Well, well, well. To say that we did well is an under-statement. The
warriors of Romford Town armed themselves well before the match, throwing down their arms ready to wage war in the impending
battle.
And what a battle it was.
After 5 minutes Romford Town were holding their ground, crunching into tackles and holding the back
line as a stalemate ensued until the first goal went in. Like an angel from heaven, that man McGhee found
himself in just enough space to stick one past the keeper to bring the joy and accomplishment that such a team deserve.
Smiles all round when that goal went in, instantly earning McGhee the coverted Man of the Match award.

BOOOOOM!!! McGhee lets fly for Romford Town |
After the first goal things were kept quiet for a while, any flair or decent passing
attempted by Real was quickly pounced upon and exploited by the Romford Town defence, either distributing the ball to the
forwards or joining the attack.
Then, the inevitable happened. The fitness of each player dissipitated into the effort of a couch
potato with most RTFC players actually unable to move for short periods. Ruffle, ruffle, ruffle went the Romford Town
net as the goals flew passed them. Then, late in the match, hope for the Towners, the Honz managed to squeeze 3 past
their keeper to complete his run for top goal-scorer for the club. What a man! But the unbelievable happened.
During the match Montiny had been pinging them from all over the place, but the keeper had been doing
well to keep him at bay. With not 20 seconds to go he got his just rewards. Finding himself in a right-back position
on the pitch, DMK saw a glimpse of the goal. He pulled back the right peg and side-footed a curler around 30 yards into
the top-right hand corner of the net, the Real keeper left stranded in the middle of the goal.
The result of that piece of magic: GOAL OF THE SEASON!
Individual Ratings
Rickee Murrell - Should have put some away but superb skill with the tricks.
Left the field with two of the largest pieces of skin peeling from the balls of his feet.

Lick it, you know you want to. |
Paul Mangan - Calm down Paul, I can't give you Man of the Match
every week!!! Another superb performance that really kept us in the game, could do with some more runners when rolling
the ball out.
DMK - What a goal, what more can you want with someone? Really started to come
out of his shell with a decent all-round performance.
John McGhee - Scorer of the first ever goal for Romford Town, he's already a fans favourite
and all in his first game for the club! A good, strong performance from John.
Roger Westwood - Had some excellent chances handled well by the keeper, but well deserved
a goal. Rogers man-marking and tackling really saving the cub in some touch and go moments.
Ben Brace - The ROCK! Showing an improved awareness, tackling and passing, our
man with the master plan is really showing us what an important asset he is to the team!
Chris Jones - A lovely hatrick, a superb performance and a grim determination really
had The Honz leading by example, could've put a couple more away for us, but the club couldn't ask for more.
