Town 8 - 6 The Real McCoy

What can you say, what a great performance from Romford Town for the third week running.

The team had to handle to loss of influential captain Chris Jones before the game started due to a scouting mission in Greece but were pleased to hear at the 11th hour that Samir will be filling the boots of the Romford Town legend.

The Town started well in the first half with Samir getting on the score sheet after just 5 minutes. Then as the McCoy boys were still in shock of going behind for the first time this season, John McGhee got on the score sheet again after some great work from Steve Hammond in the corner.

The Real McCoy bounced back straight away tho when Mike let a weak shot go in under his body, but the Town Keeper redeemed himself with some quality saves. McCoy pulled leval with about 15 minutes gone in the first half when McGhee let slip his marker and the striker slotted in under mike.

As half time approached Murrell got on the score sheet but Town were pegged back again with 2 late goals from McCoy and half time came at 4 - 3 to Real McCoy.

The Towners were not fazed by this tho, and when the second half started the boys were back on form. John Mcghee eager to impress the watching female fans got in a sweet shot and levalled things up straight away. Then Samir got on the score sheet again to put towners ahead. The real McCoy then scored another 2 in quick consesion to go up 6 - 5 with only 5 minutes to go. Murrell got on the score sheet again with a well taken drive past the diving keeper to leval things at 6 a piece.

Mccoy then got a break away and a shot that appeared to go in was ruled out by the Fat Ref, the ball fell to Roger dogs who played the ball through to Leonard who got his 1st goal of the night with a long range drive.

The match came to an end shortly after some superb skill and vision from John Mcghee saw Hammondo free in the centre and the cross was easily placed past the shoddy McCoy keeper. Good win boys......

Len was on duty on Wednesday night.......

Samir - Solid perfomance on his first game of the season for the defender. A couple of great goals as well and held the back line together all night. Goals  - 2

Stuart Leonard - Fellow man of the match Len had also a solid performance for his first game, he battled well all night and never let the side down with his crunching takles. Goals - 1

John McGhee - Super perfomance for the midfield man this week to also get a fellow man of the match call, never shed a tackle like usual and run the McCoy midfield ragged with his skill. Superb ball into Steve for his goal also. Goals - 2

Steve Hammond - What can you say about this man, never had his shooting boots on this week but the movement and skill on and off the ball was super all night. Setup both goals for McGhee and managed one himself, well played son. Goals - 1

Rickee Murrell - Played well tonight, moved well up front and scored 2 goals, how he missed the open goal from 2 yards god only knows.....maybe defence will be better for you next week Murrell....... Goals - 2

Roger Westwood - This man never stops, he would die for the Town and was solid again tonight. Some great shots and was unlucky not to score. Seems to be getting better every single week, still awaiting that vital 1st goal of the season.

Mike Firmin - Had a lot to live up too following McGhee's perfomance in goal last week and i think that un nerved him a little. Got better as the game went on and pulled off some good saves in the second half.
