With 2 defeats behind them Romford Town managed to notch up yet another in a hatrick of defeats last week. The
Towners fought valiantly in a game that they dominated for the first 5 minutes.
Eager opposition 'Havering' were caught asking player-manager Rickee Murrell what the rules of 5-a-side were before the
game showing the Towners that surely an easy game was ahead of them. This was not the case as Havering started eager
and fit, closely marking players and not giving any space away.
Early in the first half though, John McGhee managed to burst forward and lose his marker to find himself on-on-one with
the keeper. A toe-poked shot was then deflected back to McGhee as he was second time lucky with the rebound to score
the Towners first goal. With the one-nil lead the Towners could see an easy win on the way, but even with super-McGhee's
goal it wasn't to be.
To reply the new team pounced forward with skill and 'new teams enthusiasm' as the started to run the Towners all over
the pitch. Power shots came in at an unsuspecting Crane who was playing for the first time this season. Before
the game Murrell reported that Crane had listed a number of 'irrelevant excuses' which meant that the Crane not only had to
be cut from the team all together but that his hands were cut off. "Fairs fair", Murrell commented.

"How many appearances are you planning to make this season then Crane?" |
Havering came forward again and again, a disorganised but determined defence just about coping but to be fair Cranes
form was on top for most of the game. McGhee, Honz and the Brace all crunched in hard when defending to keep the Towners
in the game. Havering seemed to pick things up quickly though as they soon looked like a team that had played more games
than this first outing. They defended well, closing down space and intercepting loose balls and bad passes.
They scored to level the game not too long after McGhee's moment of glory, and kept the pressure on as the Towners struggled.
The Honz wasn't gonna lie back and feel the pain though as he showed the captains spirit of determination and helped the Towners
to play football again. Linking up with McGhee and DMK, Honz seemed to be involved with every Towners move. Halfway
through the first half another moment of Honz inspiraration as he found himself in the middle of the park to boom
one of those weird Honz shots that sort of loops up and down but never goes above knee height. Anyway it went in and
looked very nice.
It wasn't enough though as more Romford Town attacks broke down and more goals were scored by Havering. Close enough
at half-time, Romford Town were not completely written off. They had Roger Dogs who had returned to the staff with
another top drawer performance down the wings, and Benny Brace, who's continuing knowledge of the beautiful game
helped stop more attacks than they let through and of course Murrell. The man with the biggest penis on the field, had
only a handful of shots but couldn't punish for allowing him to shoot.
The second half started badly anyway and things just went downhill from there. Fitness went downhill for the Towners
while Havering just seemed to carry on with fitness not an issue. More goals went against the Towners and towards the
end of the game the Towners just seemd to give up, acknowledging their defeat.
